F1 2026 season

And that might raise a few questions: How many races are there? Are there any new circuits, and which ones have been replaced? Where does the season start and where does it end?
Lots of questions,  and we’ll go through them all for you below.

Let’s start at the beginning: just like this year, the season opener will take place in Australia. This year’s season kicked off with an exciting race, thanks to the weather conditions. Lando Norris won the race and showed the field just how strong McLaren is again this year.

Australia has traditionally hosted the first race of the season, although it was taken over by Bahrain for a few years. But once again, Australia has the honor of opening the season.

After Australia, everything remains the same as this year, until the Canadian Grand Prix. This race has been moved from June to May. This year, it will take place right after Miami, due to logistical reasons.

Canada already had a strange spot on the calendar, as it was placed right in the middle of the European races, which of course isn’t ideal from a logistical standpoint.
They’ve changed that this year: Canada will now be held in May, right after Miami, and there will no longer be a break in the middle of the European leg of the season.

Then, some bad news...
The real Formula 1 fans probably went looking right away for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the race held in Italy and you spotted it correctly: it’s not on the calendar.

It was expected, as no contract extension had been announced, and now it’s official Imola, a beloved race and an iconic track, has been dropped from the calendar.

A new circuit has been added in its place, but unfortunately, we do have to say goodbye to Imola.

Imola isn’t the only track that will disappear from the calendar, the Dutch Grand Prix will also be removed. Imola saw its final race in 2025, but Zandvoort will host its last Grand Prix in 2026.

The Netherlands is one of the few countries that doesn’t receive government funding to host a Grand Prix. The race had been off the calendar for quite some time, but made its return in 2020. And what a celebration it was to have Zandvoort back, year after year it turned into a sea of orange and a true party in the Netherlands.
But sadly, after 2026, we’ll have to say goodbye to the Dutch Grand Prix.

It promises to be one final celebration, as the Netherlands will end its contract with a sprint race! Want to experience the Dutch Grand Prix one last time?

Not all bad news , when a Grand Prix drops off the calendar, it often means a new one is added, and that will happen next year.

In 2026, Spain will host two races! The first is the long-standing Barcelona Grand Prix, and the second will be a brand-new race held in Madrid.

Construction on the Madrid circuit started recently, and the race is set to take place there from 2026 untill 2035. This marks an exciting new chapter for Formula 1 in Spain, with fans now able to enjoy two thrilling events each season.

The name of the new circuit will be Madring and is 5.4 kilometers long, has 22 turns and 57 laps with very technical sections and a Monumental curve that will be an icon of the championship.

And like the last years the formula 1 season ends in Abu Dhabi! What is striking is that the last six races are a triple header. which means that austin mexico and brazil are driven in three weeks back to back and also las vegas, qatar and abu dhabi are held right after each other. A very busy last part of the season!

It is of course an honor to be able to close the season. in recent years we have seen Max win the championship even before the last race but in 2021 the iconic closing match was of course between Hamilton and Verstappen. Also last year the battle was still going on between Mclaren and Ferrari. so it always remains an exciting race!
