About us
Let me introduce myself, my name is Lola de Jong, I’m 21 years old and based in the Netherlands. I'm the founder and owner of RacingMedia Girls, a platform built from pure passion and a powerful mission.
My goal? To create an inclusive community where motorsport lovers, regardless of gender, feel seen, respected, and connected. I've noticed, and still experience, that women in motorsport are often not taken seriously, and that needs to change. RacingMedia Girls is a space where both men and women come together, support each other, and celebrate the sport they love.
My own journey into motorsport began not so long ago, in 2021 to be exact. I grew up in a household where Formula 1 was never on TV, so I never really came into contact with it. That changed when I watched the Dutch Grand Prix for the first time. I thought, “Why not give it a try?”
From that moment on, I was hooked, and I haven’t missed a single race or session since.
Formula 1 has quickly become a massive part of my life. I live and breathe the sport, 24/7. What started as a hobby turned into a career, first with Viaplay, and now with my own platform, RacingMedia Girls.
Curious to hear more of my story, my experiences, and especially the goals I’m chasing with RacingMedia Girls? Then you’re in exactly the right place.

About us
My love for motorsport began in 2021, a time when the world was standing still, but something inside me started moving.
As a young teenager, I was ready to explore the world, but due to COVID, everything came to a halt. I spent most days stuck inside with little to look forward to. That’s when I discovered Formula 1.
Suddenly, I had something exciting to wait for every weekend, from media day and free practice sessions to qualifying and, of course, the race. I found myself reading everything I could and following the sport day and night. Without even realizing it, I had become obsessed.
It wasn’t just a hobby anymore, it became something I truly loved. Something that made me feel alive. That’s when I knew I wanted to turn this into a career.
At the time, I was studying journalism and media. Through my studies, I got invited to the World Superbike event in Assen. A small group of students, including me, got exclusive access behind the scenes. We stood on the grid before the race, watched interviews up close in the media center, and experienced the energy of the paddock first-hand.
It hit me right then and there that this is where I belong.
A few months later, I attended the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. I remember seeing McLaren’s media team filming an episode of Unboxed, and something clicked in my mind. If they can do it, so can I.
Fueled by the best weekend of my life, I returned to school where we started working on our final journalism project, our own magazine.
Still riding the high of Zandvoort, I decided to dedicate my entire magazine to dream jobs in motorsports.
I had the incredible opportunity to interview:
- Jan Lammers - former Formula 1 driver
- Tom Coronel - Dutch racing driver
- Nita Korhonen - Director of the FIM
After finishing the magazine, it was time to find an internship. I landed one at Viaplay Netherlands, the official Formula 1 broadcaster. My dream was becoming a reality. I joined their social media team and got to work closely with Giedo van der Garde and Christijan Albers, both former F1 drivers.
After completing my internship and earning my degree, I was offered a contract, and I finished the 2023 Formula 1 season as part of the Viaplay team.
But I wasn’t done dreaming. For over two years, I had a vision of starting a blog with a friend. We even had a name, Racingmedia, but life got in the way and not much happened. When my time at Viaplay came to an end, I faced a bold question: Should I look for a new job, or should I create my dream job from scratch? I took a risk and decided to go all in, working full-time to build my own business. What started as RacingMedia Girls quickly grew into something much bigger. I launched the RacingMedia Shop, and today, our community has grown to over 11,000 passionate motorsport fans.
And this is only the beginning.
While working in the industry, I noticed how many racing news websites were out there, and I asked myself, how can I stand out? That’s when I realized what was missing. A platform that welcomes everyone. A space where both men and women can share their passion for motorsport, equally, respectfully, and without judgment.
That’s how RacingMedia Girls was born.

Lola de Jong
Founder
For the first year, I managed everything at RacingMedia Girls on my own.
From building and maintaining multiple social media platforms to launching the RacingMedia Shop, every design, every post you see, is created and published by me.
I built the website myself and make sure there’s fresh content every single day, race week or not. From fun quizzes to live results and breaking news updates, there’s always something happening online.
Behind the scenes, I’m constantly working on new ideas and exciting projects. And I’m no longer alone, I now have two amazing, creative women who blog alongside me here on the RacingMedia Girls website.
Both of them reached out to me, and I love giving girls like myself, with a passion for motorsport, the chance to grow and take their first steps in the industry.

Get to know me: my motorsport work experiences
Where my dream came to life
In 2020, I started studying journalism. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to achieve with this program, but I immediately knew I had a passion for social media. It began when I was young, creating fan accounts. Additionally, my passion for radio and TV was also huge.
When I became a Formula 1 fan in 2021, a secret dream started to grow to one day work in Formula 1 media. In 2022, my school invited me and a few other students to take a behind-the-scenes look at the World Superbike.
We got an incredible behind-the-scenes experience! Just minutes before the start of the race, we were standing on the grid between all the drivers, and we were allowed to sit in the control room to see how the footage from the circuit was directed. We sat in the media center with all the journalists, listening to the drivers being interviewed, and we even got to talk to some journalists about their careers. This is a day I will never forget because it was here that I realized I wanted to work in motorsports. What an atmosphere, what passion, and what a weekend it was!

Dutch grand prix 2022
The Dutch Grand Prix 2021 was the very first F1 race I had ever watched, and a year later, I was actually there myself! I had received tickets from my father, for which I’m still incredibly grateful. Your first live F1 Grand Prix is truly special. I had the weekend of my life! For the first time, I saw Formula 1 cars racing past in real life! And that sound! Oh, what an experience to witness it for the first time!
Of course, I also wanted to see the drivers, so I stood by the paddock, hoping to meet someone. While I was waiting, the McLaren media team came by to create some content. That’s when I realized they had my dream job. And then I thought, if they can do it, so can I. That’s when a kind of passion and energy surged within me, and I knew, I want this, and I’m going to do everything, absolutely everything, to make it happen.
also had the honor of meeting the amazing team Quadrant!
My own magazine
The day after the Dutch Grand Prix, I had to return to school. I was starting the final year of my journalism program. In the first few months, we had to create our own magazine. Still filled with adrenaline and passion from the Grand Prix the day before, I decided to write my magazine about dream jobs in motorsports.
This turned out to be a great choice, as it brought me closer to my dream. I conducted a lot of research, wrote many articles, and did some truly remarkable interviews!
For example, my feature story was an interview with former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers. We had an incredibly long phone conversation about his career as an F1 driver and how he brought the Dutch Grand Prix back to the Netherlands as the sporting director of the Zandvoort circuit.
I also interviewed Tom Coronel about his long racing career, which is still ongoing. Additionally, I spoke with Nita Korhonen, the director of FIM Women. Beyond interviewing an experienced former F1 driver full of stories, I also spoke to a young karting talent who still has his entire career ahead of him. It was a magazine filled with stories and passion!

Working in F1 for Viaplay
When my magazine was finished, the only thing left for me to do was to complete a six-month internship and take my final exam to graduate with my journalism diploma. I knew I wanted to find an internship related to Formula 1 or motorsports. Since I had met Team Quadrant during the Dutch GP in Zandvoort, they were the first ones I emailed. Unfortunately, I never received a response.
Another company I approached was Viaplay Netherlands, the TV station that broadcasts Formula 1 here in the Netherlands. After a few emails and phone calls, I was finally invited for an interview. It went well, and I was accepted as an intern. I joined the social media team and learned a lot. I had the opportunity to work with former Formula 1 drivers like Giedo van der Garde and Christian Albers, as well as analysts such as Tom Coronel, Red Bull Racing sim driver Rudy van Buren, and many more!
I was allowed to edit interviews with F1 drivers, design backgrounds for the TV studio, film videos with analysts, create fun content for social media, and work with Viaplay's partners.
It was an incredibly exciting experience, where I gained a lot of knowledge. Eventually, after completing my internship, I was offered a contract and finished the 2023 Formula 1 season with Viaplay.
When the season ended and my contract expired, my adventure with Viaplay came to an end, and I started working for myself.
Racingmedia Girls
When I left Viaplay, I immediately missed creating Formula 1 content! I had been immersed in F1 24/7, and suddenly, it was gone. It was also the off-season, so there was no F1 at all. That's when I decided to launch Racingmedia Girls.
Before working at Viaplay, I already had the dream of having my own F1 website. At that time, a friend and I had started working on our own motorsport website, called Racingmedia. However, when I started working at Viaplay, I didn’t have the time to focus on it, so the project was put on hold.
Now that I had time again, I decided to rebrand Racingmedia into Racingmedia Girls. During my time at Viaplay, I had a lot of contact with companies like Racingnews365, Motorsport.com, and other F1 websites. I knew there was already a lot of competition, so I needed to come up with something unique. That’s when the idea came to focus on women, which is how the name Racingmedia Girls was born. Of course, men are also more than welcome in the community. We are a platform where both men and women can share their passion for the sport.
The passion for Racingmedia had been there for a few years, but in 2023, it truly came to life. In January 2024, our Instagram platform went live!

Belgian Grand Prix 2024
So far, the best weekend of my life was still the Dutch Grand Prix 2022. It was clear that I wanted to attend another Grand Prix this year. Unfortunately, I couldn’t visit any GPs in 2023 because I had to work on location in Hilversum every race weekend.
So, this year, it was time to go to the Dutch Grand Prix again. I had actually bought these tickets right after the 2022 weekend. In addition, I also wanted to attend a new GP, one I had never been to before. That’s how I ended up choosing the Belgian Grand Prix, an iconic circuit I had visited in 2023, though not during an F1 weekend.
The Grand Prix weekend in Belgium was amazing! I originally went to the GP alone, but along the way, I met people and had a great time. I also brought my camera and, for the first time, got to photograph F1 cars. It wasn’t easy with how fast they zoom past, but it resulted in some awesome photos.
Want to know more about my weekend in Belgium? Then read my blog, 'The Belgian Grand Prix: Is it worth attending or not?'
I created a ton of content and used my Racingmedia Girls live cam on Instagram for the first time! I provided all my followers with live content from the circuit.
Dutch Grand Prix 2024
The Dutch Grand Prix has, as you can tell, a special meaning for me. This is where I truly decided to turn my hobby into my work.
- 2021: Zandvoort was the first race I ever watched.
- 2022: Zandvoort was the first GP I attended live.
- 2024: Here, I clearly saw the difference between the Dutch GP and the Belgian GP. If you want to know more, be sure to read my blog: "Pros and Cons of the Dutch GP."
But the best part of all was that I saw my favorite driver win right in front of me. What an experience!
And where I could proudly walk around in my own Formula 1 merchandise, something I truly couldn't have imagined a year ago. Check out Racingmediashop for more info!

Van Amersfoort Racing
In October 2024, I visited the racing team Van Amersfoort Racing, which is active in F3, FRECA, F4, and F2. It was an amazing experience to see a team up close and behind the scenes. A detailed blog about this will be coming soon!
Monaco Grand Prix 2025
One of the Grand Prix races that sits high on the bucket list for many Formula 1 fans is the Monaco Grand Prix. It’s arguably the most iconic race of the year. The atmosphere, the people, the stunning views, the country itself, everything about Monaco is something every motorsport fan should experience up close at least once.
But Monaco is Monaco and it doesn’t come cheap. Ticket prices are famously high. So, I decided to go for general admission tickets, which means you pay a smaller amount but don’t have assigned seats. You get to watch the race from a hillside area overlooking the circuit.
On a budget, I planned to attend only Friday and Saturday. But to my surprise, on the Thursday evening before the GP, I got a message from Williams Racing, I had won three grandstand tickets!
Williams Racing completely flipped our weekend around. Suddenly, we had seats for three days with a view of the Monaco harbor. On Sunday, we even had views of the start-finish line, the grid full of celebrities, and last but not least the podium!
The day after the race, we returned to Monaco to explore the city without F1 . We even got access to the paddock while they were packing up.
In short, the best weekend of my life!

My first F1 paddock experience
This section is not yet available. Unfortunately, I have never been to the Formula 1 paddock. Every motorsport fan dreams of this, and so do I. My biggest dream and goal is to one day take a look at the paddock, see the teams up close, and witness how everything truly works behind the scenes.
