Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve
The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal is a favorite among drivers and fans alike. Located on the man-made Île Notre-Dame, the 4.361 km track features high-speed straights, heavy braking zones, and tight chicanes. Since its debut in 1978, won by Gilles Villeneuve, it has delivered thrilling races and memorable moments.
With 70 laps and famous spots like the “Wall of Champions,” the circuit demands precision and courage. Combined with Montreal’s vibrant race-week atmosphere and top viewing spots at the hairpin, it’s one of the most exciting and iconic stops on the F1 calendar.

Qualifying
The 2024 Canadian Grand Prix weekend is one to remember. There was lots of action and excitement throughout the weekend! It started off with a thrilling qualifying session. Things got interesting already in Q1, where Pérez was knocked out, for the second time in a row, while his teammate Verstappen was fighting for pole position. But Pérez wasn’t the only top-team driver to disappoint; both Ferrari drivers were knocked out during Q2!
Q3 didn’t disappoint either, the times were so close that the pole sitter and second place had the exact same time! The difference was +0.000. Because George Russell set the time before Max Verstappen, Russell took pole position. Lando Norris completed the top three.
Grand prix
The race itself was just as exciting, starting off as a wet race, and a wet race means spectacle. And that’s exactly what it was! Several drivers led the race at different points. Verstappen, Norris, and Russell all had chances to win. But due to numerous pit stops for wet and dry tires and some mistakes from certain drivers, Max Verstappen ultimately won the race, with Lando Norris finishing second and George Russell completing the podium.
There was also plenty of action further back in the field, with several incidents. Logan Sargeant crashed and caused a safety car. Pérez also retired, and Albon ended up in the wall after an incident with Sainz. Sainz got off relatively unscathed, as did Yuki Tsunoda, who also had an incident but was able to continue racing!
